Community & Partnerships
UMRC strives to be an excellent neighbor, serving not only its residents but those in the community at large. As it has done for its entire existence, UMRC maintains an active role in many community groups, organizations and initiatives in order to help those around us.
UMRC also provides support to, and collaborates with, a number of partner organizations that share the UMRC mission to provide care and services to seniors. Below are a few of the groups and organizations that we work closely with.
UMRC partners with Leading Age to provide innovative practices to transform how we serve our aging population, cutting-edge initiatives to develop services that meet older adults’ needs and preferences, and advocacy to advance the interests of the aging consumer.
The Cedars of Dexter has joined with the Adult Learners Institute of Chelsea Michigan to offer classes at The Cedars of Dexter. The classes will be offered at The Cedars of Dexter’s beautiful new clubhouse.
UMRC has partnered with the Western-Washtenaw Area Value Express to offer free community shuttle transportation service for all Chelsea residents.
UMRC and the Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center operate a mobile clinic that allows Chelsea Retirement Community residents to voluntarily participate in clinical studies, be part of cutting-edge research and may also, through participation, be diagnosed at the earliest stages of Alzheimer’s disease when treatment can be most effective.
