“Keep the Faith and Be Strong”

Rivertown Assisted Living resident, Irma Jaxon was born and raised in Detroit. She lived in the projects of Sojourner Truth on Nevada and attended Pershing High School there. She graduated in 1957 and began working at age 17. She continued her education, graduating from Wayne County Community College with an Associates degree -an accomplishment she’s most proud of.

When asked about Detroit in earlier years, Irma fondly reflects on cruising around the city in her 1952 Ford and her first job as a soda jerk in the David Whitney Building. More recently, she enjoys riding her bike along the riverfront.

Irma enjoys the simple things: summer, Ralph Armstrong music, Bistro 555, shrimp, and the Greektown Casino!

“keep the faith and be strong” are Irma’s words to live by!
