The Heritage Room Museum
 |
The Heritage Room Museum at Chelsea Retirement Community features 100 years of the history of CRC and its residents. One of the only museums of its kind in a retirement community setting, the Museum opened in 1971 and includes a collection of memorabilia given to CRC by former and current residents. Exhibits in the Museum tell the story of what daily life was like at CRC during its early days, including a dining room exhibit with original table settings, and furnishings from a typical resident’s room in the early 1900s. The Heritage
Room Museum also includes an extensive directory of CRC residents,
both past and present, making it a wealth of information for
those interested in genealogy.
In the mid 1990s the Heritage Room was renovated and expanded
as part of United Methodist Retirement Communities’ 90th
anniversary celebration. CRC received a certificate of commendation
in 1998 from the American Association for State and Local History
for its renovations of the Heritage Room Museum and archives.
