February 2011 UMRC Collaboration Leads to Community Development in Detroit UMRC recently announced that it is teaming with the Henry Ford Health System and Presbyterian Villages of Michigan to develop the East Jefferson Neighborhood Project along the Detroit Riverfront. The project will include Detroit's first affordable assisted living option. Ground breaking will occur in May 2011, and the project is scheduled to open in July 2012.

October 2010 Grand Opening of The Cedars Clubhouse We are proud to announce that our beautiful community clubhouse is open for business! The clubhouse features fine and casual dining options, all inclusive fitness center including pool, hot tub and sauna, life learning studio, private entertaining room for friends and family, and more. The clubhouse will be the focal point of cultural, social, educational, health and fitness activities in the community.
October 2010 The Cedars of Dexter featured in the Showcase of Homes The Cedars of Dexter (model) will be a featured home in the Showcase of Homes, sponsored by The Builders & Remodelers Association of Greater Ann Arbor. August 2010 The Cedars of Dexter Teams with Adult Learners Institute This fall, the Adult Learners Institute of Chelsea Michigan (ALI) will begin offering classes at The Cedars of Dexter. The classes will be offered at The Cedars of Dexter’s beautiful new clubhouse. ALI provides high quality, low cost learning experiences geared toward the interests of adults in Chelsea and its surrounding communities. ALI class offerings include interesting topics such as art appreciation, popular science, and local and world history.
July 2010 The Pines Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary On July 18, 2010, United Methodist Retirement Communities hosted a community celebration to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of The Pines Senior Apartments. Residents, staff and members of the community came together for a picnic and entertainment to mark the occasion. The Pines is an affordable senior living community of spacious and well-appointed one and two bedroom apartments reserved for active, independent adults 55 and older.
June 2010 UMRC Partners with WAVE The Western-Washtenaw Area Value Express (WAVE) and United Methodist Retirement Communities recently announced that they are partnering to offer free community shuttle transportation service for all Chelsea residents. The shuttles will run on a four hour “shopping loop” Monday through Saturday with a total of 11 stops allowing residents to park once in Chelsea and visit multiple locations throughout the city hassle-free.
